Smriti Mandhana calls off wedding with Palash Muchhal after health scares & rumours; both seek privacy, focus on future amid public speculation

Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has confirmed that her much‑anticipated wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal has been called off. The announcement, made through social media, ended weeks of speculation but left fans heartbroken. Mandhana requested privacy, choosing not to reveal details, while Muchhal issued a parallel statement acknowledging the separation and condemning circulating rumours.

The wedding, originally scheduled for November 23, 2025, was first postponed due to unforeseen health emergencies. On the morning of the ceremony, Mandhana’s father, Shriniwas Mandhana, suffered a sudden cardiac scare and was rushed to hospital. Doctors linked the episode to stress from the wedding preparations. Hours later, Muchhal himself was briefly hospitalised, reportedly due to exhaustion and anxiety triggered by the unfolding crisis. These twin medical emergencies forced both families to defer the nuptials indefinitely, assuring that celebrations would resume once health concerns were resolved.

However, during the break, speculation began to overshadow the official narrative. Social media was flooded with unverified allegations about Muchhal’s personal conduct, including claims of inappropriate digital interactions. His family dismissed the accusations as baseless, but the rumours gained traction when Mandhana deleted all pre‑wedding photos and videos from her accounts. Several friends and teammates followed suit, fuelling talk of a deeper rift.

Ultimately, both Mandhana and Muchhal issued statements confirming the end of their relationship. Mandhana emphasised her desire to protect her privacy and redirect her focus to cricket, calling the sport her “higher purpose.” Muchhal, meanwhile, said he had chosen to ‘step back’ and ‘move on,’ while warning of legal action against defamatory content.

The couple’s journey had begun in 2019, when they were introduced through mutual friends in Mumbai’s creative circles. Known for keeping their bond discreet, they went public only in July 2024 and celebrated their engagement soon after. Their wedding was expected to be one of the most high‑profile events of the year, but the combination of health crises and relentless public scrutiny proved insurmountable.

Mandhana’s decision underscores her commitment to maintaining dignity amid personal turmoil, while Muchhal’s response highlights the pressures of navigating celebrity relationships in the digital age.
