India name a 15-member squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup under SuryaKumar Yadav’s leadership, with Rinku Singh and Ishan Kishan making comebacks; the same team will face New Zealand ahead of the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a strong 15-member Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. The team has been selected by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee and will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav.
The announcement brings good news for fans as Rinku Singh and Ishan Kishan have earned a return to the national side. The selectors have confirmed that this same squad will also feature in the T20 international series against New Zealand, scheduled ahead of the World Cup.
The Indian squad includes a balanced mix of youth and experience. Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma are part of the batting unit, while Sanju Samson has been named as the wicketkeeper. Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube and Axar Patel add depth to the all-rounders’ group, with Axar also appointed vice-captain.

The bowling attack will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, supported by Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in pace, while Varun Chakravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar strengthen the spin department. Rinku Singh and Ishan Kishan provide additional batting options in the middle order.
The T20 World Cup 2026 will begin on February 7 and conclude with the final on March 8. Matches will be hosted across major venues in India, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Delhi, along with Sri Lankan venues Colombo and Kandy. The opening match will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, while the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
A total of four groups have been formed for the tournament. India have been placed in Group A alongside the USA, Namibia, Netherlands and Pakistan. Group B consists of Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Oman. Group C features England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Italy and Nepal, while Group D includes South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Canada and the UAE.
