SS Rajamouli confirms SSMB29 with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra

Acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli has officially announced his next project, tentatively titled SSMB29, featuring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra in leading roles. The announcement, made with Rajamouli’s signature humour, revealed that he had “caged the lion” (Mahesh Babu) and taken his passport, implying the actor's packed schedule for the film.

Mahesh Babu responded to the announcement with a popular dialogue from his 2006 hit Pokiri: "Okkasaari commit ayithe naa maata nene vinanu," meaning, "Once I commit, I won’t even listen to myself." Priyanka Chopra, hinting at a “new chapter” in Hyderabad, confirmed her involvement by commenting “finally” on Rajamouli’s post.

The film was launched with a puja ceremony on January 2, 2025, at Hyderabad’s Aluminium Factory, adorned with flowers and banners featuring Rajamouli’s previous works. Written by Vijayendra Prasad and directed by Rajamouli, SSMB29 promises an epic adventure. Production began in January 2025, with the film slated for release in 2028.

While the rest of the cast remains under wraps, speculation is rife that Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is part of the project. However, no official confirmation has been made.

Rajamouli’s collaboration with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra has sparked immense anticipation, as fans eagerly await updates on this highly ambitious venture.
