Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old state-level tennis player was allegedly shot dead by her father on Thursday morning at their home in Gurugram. The incident took place around 10:30 am on the first floor of their residence after an argument broke out between the two.

According to the police, the argument started after Radhika Yadav posted a video reel on social media. Her father, reportedly unhappy with the post, used his licensed revolver to shoot her, a total of five bullets were fired, of which three hit her. She was also taken to a private hospital by her family but died during treatment.

The police confirmed that the weapon used was licensed and has been recovered from the house. The father allegedly acted in anger following the disagreement.

According to Rajender Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 56 Police Station, the police received a call from the hospital about a woman with gunshot wounds. By the time officers reached the hospital, she had already passed away. Family members informed the police that the father was responsible for the shooting.

Radhika Yadav was known for her achievements in tennis.  She held a doubles ranking of 113 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and was once ranked within the top 200 globally as well.

The incident has shocked the local community and the sports world, cutting short the career of a promising young athlete as well.
