A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded in Ayyanbavi Bhovi Colony of Tiptur taluk, Tumkur district, where a six-year-old girl lost her life after being mauled by a pack of stray dogs.
The victim, identified as Navya, was walking behind her father, Mahalingaiah, who is deaf and has a physical disability. Unaware of the unfolding danger, he continued ahead while his daughter was attacked. Despite Navya’s desperate screams, her father did not hear her cries for help.

Locals rushed to the spot upon hearing the commotion and alerted Mahalingaiah, who only then realized the victim was his daughter. By that time, the stray dogs had severely injured the child, biting her head, stomach, and limbs. Her face and thighs had been brutally mauled.
Navya was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital in Tumkur and later referred to the government hospital in Hassan for advanced care. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries en route.
Navya’s mother, Bhagyamma, is also hearing impaired, and the family's anguish is unimaginable. The young girl was reportedly the “eyes and ears” of her parents, who now mourn an irreplaceable loss.
The incident has sparked outrage in the locality, renewing concerns over the growing menace of stray dog attacks and the need for urgent civic action.
