Sudarshan Chakra which is India’s S-400 air defense system successfully combatted a Pakistani offensive involving both drones and missiles on Thursday. This was launched in response to the Operation Sindoor by India which targeted 9 terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The Pakistani forces had planned a series of attacks directing drones and missiles towards important military bases and several cities like Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Bhuj.

However, India’s S-400 air defense system demonstrated its value and justified its existence by intercepting and neutralizing all the Pakistani missile threats.

The S-400 system represents the zenith of the modern air technology in India. It is one of the world’s most advanced air defense systems with an exceptional detection range of 600 kilometers and engagement capability extending upto 400 kilometers. India has created  a robust shield around its most critical regions like Pathankot, Rajasthan and Gujarat by deploying four S-400 squadrons.

S-400 is developed by Russia’s Almaz Central Design Bureau. India had signed a contract of $5.43 billion with Russia in 2018 to procure five units of S-400. Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed S-400 squadrons in north-west and east India, the most vulnerable to attacks, to address threats from both China and Pakistan at this crucial time.
