Sudha Murthy is scared about the same spoon being used for veg and non veg! Netizens have a field day

Sudha Murthy had featured on food author and television personality, Kunal Vijaykar’s cuisine exploration series, “Khaane mein kya hain”. She had chosen the Atulya group of restaurants based in Indiranagar, Bengaluru for hosting Kunal who had come all the way from Mumbai. 

The episode covered various themes such as the diversity and speciality of the Karnataka cuisine, her husband, founder of Infosys, Narayan Murthy’s food habits and her love for films among others. But the portion which became viral on social media is the portion where she spoke about her routine during flight travel. 

“Main adventurous kaam mein hain, khaane mein nahi, bahar ka mujhe darr lagta hain, main pure vegetarian hoon, not even egg, not even lasan, darr kya lagta hain, dono vegeterian aur non vegeterian ko ek hi spoon use kiya hain, woh mere mann mein bohot takleef deta hain, isi liye bahar jaati hoon toh veg restaurants dekthi hoon, or when i travel I carry one bag full of eating material. 25-30 chapati banake leke jaati hoon” (I am adventurous in my work, not food, I am scared of outside food, I am a pure vegetarian, not even egg or garlic, so I am scared if they use the same spoon for vegetarian and non vegetarian food, this is why I look out for veg restaurants when I go outside, I prepare 25-30 chapatis to the flight) she said. 

The internet found cause for controversy in this. Some users described it as an attitude emerging from casteist notions. One way or another, Sudha Murthy has found a way to be in the limelight.
