In a major breakthrough, Mangaluru police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Hindu activist and rowdy sheeter Suhas Shetty. Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar, during his visit to Mangaluru, confirmed the arrests after holding a high-level meeting with senior police officials.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Safwan, Niaz, Mohammed Muzamil, Qalandar Shafi, Ranjit, Nagaraj, Mohammed Rizwan, and Adil. Addressing the media, Dr. Parameshwar stated that the case has been cracked and assured that the government is committed to maintaining peace in Dakshina Kannada and surrounding areas.
“The police department and the government are determined to uphold law and order. We will not allow any individual or group to disturb communal harmony,” he said. The murder of Suhas Shetty, coming just days after the killing of Ashraf, has raised concerns over rising communal tensions in the region.
In connection with the Ashraf case, 21 people have already been arrested. The state government has promised firm action against those involved in disrupting peace, regardless of background or motive.
Dr. Parameshwar emphasized that the people of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi want peace, development, and opportunities—not violence and hate. “We’ve taken all measures to ensure that students can study and youth can find jobs without fear,” he added.
