Suicide attempts have increased on Namma Metro tracks: High time preventive measures taken

The introduction of Namma Metro services in Bengaluru has gone a long way in reducing traffic woes. People can vroom past from one point to another, escaping the chock-a-block traffic and reaching their destination on time.

However, on the flip side, in the last few months, the Namma Metro has earned itself any glory due to a number of incidents. 

  • Cat stuck on rails

A cat got stuck on the rails of Namma Metro. A user alleged that the authorities decided to move rather than rescue it by halting the trains. This move has also irked several netizens.

  • Woman jumps on tracks to retrieve mobile phone

At the Indiranagar Metro Station, a woman jumped onto the tracks to get back her mobile phone. Immediately, the metro authorities switched off the power supply in order to rescue her. Operations were also halted for 15 minutes. 

  •  Youth attempts suicide

A youth attempted suicided at the Jalahalli Metro Station by jumping on the tracks. Though he was rescued, his condition was said to be critical at that point in time. Due to this incident, metro operations were again halted for 15 minutes. 

Perhaps to thwart such incidents, the metro authorities have to devise ingenious ways.
