Traffic issues plague Bengaluru on a daily basis

MP Tejasvi Surya points out the difficulties for the city

Former MP Sumalatha Ambareesh points out mess before his office

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya highlighted the distressing traffic in Bengaluru. In his post, he said, “The traffic scene in Bengaluru is getting more distressing every passing day. Even Sundays, which used to be relatively easier, is becoming as nightmarish as the weekdays.”

“Everyday, we are adding thousands of new private vehicles onto the roads which is only adding to the problem. Even running errands from neighbourhood stores takes so much time. The city roads, including the small lanes in residential areas, are way beyond its carrying capacity, and there is no space to make more roads. Anyway, more roads mean more private vehicles.”

And even as he brought it out in the public domain, former MP Sumalatha Ambareesh exposed how massive traffic jams near his office made her undergo turbulent times.

She said, “Yesterday I was passing by your office at Jayanagar @Tejasvi_Surya and I had to go through a massive jam around here. Bikes & cars parked all along the road without any kind of discipline blocking most of the road.  Seems none was around or interested to control this.”

She also brought to his notice the absence of traffic police. She said, “Adding to this I have noticed a strange absence of traffic police in a lot of junctions where earlier atleast 3 to 4 would be stationed to clear any unexpected jams or bottlenecks in recent times.”

Noting that hawkers bribe officers concerned, she stressed the need to give them opportunities to sell their products more dignifiedly.

“The reason for this has to be addressed and rectified. As for hawkers they pay a good amount of “rent” to all the concerned authorities to turn a blind eye. There should be a provision for them to sell their wares in peace and dignity without disrupting roads & traffic. Bangalore is becoming un-livable day by day and navigating roads & traffic a horrible nightmare , especially from the last one year. Everyone seems to have given up.”
