Sunjay Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, passes away at 53 in England

On June 12, 2025, Sunjay Kapur, a distinguished industrialist and former husband of Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor, tragically died at 53 in England. While playing polo, a sport he loved, Kapur succumbed to a sudden heart attack, possibly triggered by an unexpected bee sting, though authorities are still investigating. As chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading automotive firm, he was celebrated for his business acumen and global vision.

The news sent ripples through India’s corporate and film communities. Suhel Seth, an actor and writer, posted a tribute on X, grieving the loss of his friend. Kapur’s final X post, shared hours before his death, expressed sorrow over the Air India Flight 171 crash in Ahmedabad, a haunting coincidence.

Close friends, including Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Malaika Arora, and Amrita Arora, gathered at Karisma’s Mumbai residence to offer solace. Kapur and Karisma, wed in 2003, endured a stormy marriage, parting ways in 2014 and finalizing their divorce in 2016. They shared two children, Samaira and Kiaan. Kapur later found love with model Priya Sachdev, and they welcomed a son, Azarius.
