Bengaluru's Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara came under scrutiny after a surprise raid led by a special police team from the southeast division. The raid uncovered several banned items within its premises, raising serious concerns about lapses in security protocols.
Acting on intelligence inputs, the police formed multiple search teams and launched a coordinated operation across various barracks of the high-security facility. The operation led to the recovery of two mobile phones, an induction stove, ₹16,500 in cash, and four knives—items strictly prohibited within prison premises.

Despite the presence of multilayered security systems and the deployment of advanced jammers to prevent unauthorized communication, the discovery highlights ongoing vulnerabilities. Authorities confirmed that the seized items were found in the possession of inmates, pointing to a breach in both monitoring and enforcement mechanisms.
Following the raid, a formal complaint was filed with the Parappana Agrahara police. Consequently, action has been initiated against prison officials and personnel from the Karnataka State Industrial Security Force responsible for prison security. Additionally, three inmates from whom the contraband was recovered have also been booked.
This incident underscores persistent challenges faced by prison authorities in preventing the infiltration and use of banned items. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the contraband was smuggled in and to identify possible internal collusion or procedural failures contributing to the breach.
