The cases involve two infants—a three-month-old and an eight-month-old—both diagnosed with HMPV and treated at a Bengaluru hospital. While the virus has raised concerns globally, CM Siddaramaiah reassured citizens that it is not dangerous. “The virus has been seen in two kids. It is not a dangerous virus, but we have to remain cautious,” he said.
A conference is being conducted to strategize and discuss preventive measures. The Chief Minister emphasized that the health department is prepared to handle the situation effectively. “The health department will take the right steps,” he added.
As part of precautionary efforts, authorities may screen individuals arriving from abroad, should the need arise. The government continues to monitor the situation, ensuring vigilance while urging the public to stay calm.
HMPV is a respiratory virus known to cause mild to severe illnesses, particularly in young children. Health officials recommend practicing good hygiene and avoiding close contact with sick individuals to prevent its spread.
