  • BSNL rolls out WiFi Calling across all telecom circles
  • No extra charges or third-party apps required
  • Ideal for rural, remote and low-network areas

With VoWiFi rollout across India, BSNL customers can now make calls using WiFi even in low or no mobile signal areas, without extra charges or apps.

Starting the new year with a major customer-focused move, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has rolled out WiFi Calling, also known as Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi), across telecom circles in India. The new service allows users to make and receive voice calls using a WiFi network when mobile signal strength is weak or unavailable.

This feature is especially beneficial in areas where mobile networks are unreliable or poorly available. BSNL users living in rural regions, remote locations, or signal-shadow zones can now stay connected using WiFi. Customers with BSNL Bharat Fiber or any other broadband connection at home or office will no longer have to worry about call drops or network issues indoors.

One of the key highlights of the service is that it does not require any third-party applications. WiFi Calling works directly through the phone’s default dialer using the existing mobile number. Calls automatically switch between mobile networks and WiFi depending on signal availability, ensuring uninterrupted conversations.

Importantly, BSNL has clarified that there are no additional charges for using WiFi Calling. Calls made over WiFi will be billed just like regular voice calls, based on the customer’s existing plan. This means users can continue making calls without any extra cost.

WiFi Calling is supported on most modern smartphones. Users need to manually enable the WiFi Calling option in their phone settings. If the feature does not work even after activation, customers are advised to contact BSNL customer care for assistance.

The nationwide rollout of VoWiFi is part of BSNL’s broader network modernisation efforts. The aim is to improve connectivity in regions where traditional mobile networks face challenges, while also reducing congestion on mobile towers. With this step, BSNL is strengthening its service offerings and improving call quality for millions of users across the country.
