At Anthropic’s first India Developer Day in Bengaluru, Global Head Guillaume Princen revealed that half of Claude’s users in India leverage the AI for coding, debugging, and UI design, far higher than the global average.
Artificial intelligence firm Anthropic has revealed that nearly 50% of its Claude AI users in India employ the tool for technical purposes such as UI design, software development, and code debugging, significantly higher than the global average of 30%.
Speaking at Anthropic’s first Developer Day in India, hosted by venture capital firm Accel, Guillaume Princen, Global Head of Startups and Head of EMEA at Anthropic, said the data underscores India’s growing importance in the global developer ecosystem.

“India is using Claude disproportionately to build. That, for us at Anthropic, is a real signal,” Princen said. He added that India, home to the world’s fourth-largest developer community, is now Anthropic’s second-largest market after the United States, accounting for nearly one-third of all Claude conversations worldwide.
To strengthen its India footprint, Anthropic will open a new office in Bengaluru by the first quarter of 2026. The hub will help the company launch AI tools faster and support local founders and developer communities.
