A 14-year-old girl, who accidentally consumed pesticide mistaking it for aloe vera juice at her residence in Byatarayanapura, succumbed to poisoning on Wednesday while undergoing treatment.

Her mother, Sujatha, had recently purchased pesticide for her potted plants and, in haste, stored the pesticide-mixed water in the same bottle without informing Nidhi. On the evening of March 31, unaware of the contents, Nidhi consumed the liquid and soon experienced severe discomfort.

Realizing the mistake, Sujatha, with the assistance of neighbours, rushed her daughter to a nearby hospital. Despite medical intervention, Nidhi could not survive.

Authorities confirmed that the police are registering a case of death due to negligence. Nidhi is survived by her mother and younger sister.

The tragic incident highlights the dangers of improper storage of hazardous substances at home. Officials urge residents to exercise caution while handling chemicals to prevent such unfortunate accidents.
