Telugu film industry condemns Surekha's remarks on Samantha-Naga Chaitanya divorce

Telangana minister Konda Surekha sparked controversy with her recent comments on the high-profile divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya, prompting a strong backlash from the Telugu film industry. Several actors, including Prabhas and Ram Charan, have publicly condemned her statements, calling for dignity and respect.

Prabhas, typically known for his reserved nature, took to Instagram to share his disapproval, stating, "Disrespecting personal lives for political gain is unacceptable. Dignity must remain above politics. #FilmIndustryWillNotTolerate." His post quickly gained traction, echoing the sentiments of the industry.

Ram Charan, posting on X, also criticized Surekha’s remarks, describing them as “irresponsible” and “baseless.” He added, "It is shocking that an elected leader would make lewd public comments about respected individuals. This slander is an attack on the values of our society."

The controversy stems from Surekha’s allegations involving Samantha, Naga Chaitanya, and other film personalities, in which she accused political leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) of influencing their personal lives. While Surekha has since retracted her statements about Samantha, the damage had already been done, with several actors including Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR, and Mahesh Babu condemning her publicly.

Both Samantha and Naga Chaitanya have clarified that their divorce was a personal matter, unrelated to political affairs. Defamation case has been filed against the minister.
