The Israel-Gaza conflict, sparked by Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023, has neared the one-year mark, with no signs of de-escalation. However, the focus is increasingly moving to northern Israel, where daily exchanges of fire with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have intensified. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, is considered a formidable force, with a large weapons arsenal and advanced drones capable of striking deep inside Israel.
On Thursday, Israeli warplanes destroyed 100 rocket launchers in Hezbollah strongholds. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on Israeli artillery positions after accusing Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty. Lebanon condemned the Israeli attacks, which followed the deaths of over 30 Hezbollah members in explosions, reportedly linked to Israel’s Mossad spy agency.
The recent attacks have heightened fears of a broader regional war, with potential involvement from Iran and Yemen. The conflict, already one of the most volatile in the Middle East, threatens to engulf multiple countries as Hezbollah vows “just punishment” for Israel.
