Thalapathy Vijay turned 51 on June 22, and to mark the occasion, KVN Productions unveiled The First Roar, a preview of his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. The film, slated for theatrical release on January 9, 2026, aligns with the festive season of Makar Sankranti and Pongal.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the action-drama boasts music by Anirudh Ravichander and features a star-studded ensemble including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani. This marks Bobby Deol’s second outing in Tamil cinema after his role in Kanguva. For Hegde, Jana Nayagan brings a reunion with Vijay after their 2022 film Beast.

The film arrives amid Vijay’s transition into politics. In early 2024, he launched the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam party, announcing his intention to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections. His political entry was driven by concerns over governance, corruption, and societal divisions.

Earlier this year, on Republic Day, Vijay unveiled the first poster of Jana Nayagan, showcasing him capturing a selfie amid a sea of supporters—an image that blended cinematic flair with political symbolism.

Vijay was last seen in The Greatest Of All Time, a sci-fi action hit that stood among 2024’s top-grossing films. Produced by AGS Entertainment, the film followed a spy entangled in a decades-old mission, highlighting Vijay’s versatility in genre-driven roles.
