The audio launch is usually a high octane event ahead of the release of Thalapathy Vijay’s films and his speech during the event is something which his fans eagerly await. However, this time around, ahead of the theatrical release of Leo, the audio launch has been marred by controversy. Initially there were reports that suggested that the launch would not take place in Tamil Nadu but rather in Malaysia or Dubai. But it was rescheduled to be held in the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on 30th September.

On 23rd September, S PLEX TAMIL had reported that political interference was causing delay in the grant of permission for the event. “DMK Family's Red Giant is arm twisting producer of Leo so that permission will be given only if distribution rights of Chennai, Chengalpattu, North Arcot, South Arcot distribution rights are given to RedGiant.(sic),” they posted on X. Seven Screen Studio however refuted the claims. 

But on 26th September, they announced the cancellation of the event. “Considering overflowing passes requests & safety constraints, we have decided not to conduct the Leo Audio Launch. In respect of the fans' wishes, we will keep you engaged with frequent updates. P.S. As many would imagine, this is not due to political pressure or any other reasons (sic),” they posted on X. #DMKFearsThalapthyVIJAY has been trending on X despite the clarification.
