The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravan. It is planned as a three-part series with a focus on strong storytelling, detailed visuals and high production standards too.  A large part of the budget is being spent on visual effects, set design, and costumes as well.

The film’s star-studded supporting cast includes Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Ravi Dubey, Kunal Kapoor, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chadha, and Indira Krishnan.

Filming began earlier this year in Mumbai and is being carried out in phases. Ranbir Kapoor has completed the first schedule.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus and CEO of DNEG. He has previously worked on Brahmastra, Adipurush, and Kalki 2898 AD and DNEG is handling the visual effects for Ramayana and has a strong track record with eight Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects as well.

The first glimpse of Ramayana Part 1 will be released on July 3. The film is scheduled to release on Diwali 2026.
