There are a few scripts and we are in touch: Rajkumar Hirani on working with Ranbir Kapoor

With Shahrukh Khan-starrer Dunki’s net collections amounting to Rs 176.47 after 10 days, it has proven to be a dull affair for director Rajkumar Hirani who had a reputation of only directing super hits and blockbusters. Opinions of the comedy seeming forced and mismatched with the serious melodramatic tone in the second half of the movie emerged from the audience.

Rajkumar Hirani’s films are few and far in between. Questions are being raised about whether he has been able to adapt with time. It would still be unfair to rule him out. 

Rajkumar may be seen directing a film with Ranbir Kapoor in the future. Their first project together, Sanju earned Rs 342.57 crore in India. When asked about whether they would be seen together again, Rajkumar Hirani’s reply in a media interaction seemed to give a positive indication. Ranbir is an absolute sweetheart. We had a great time making Sanju. I would definitely love to do another film with him. There are a few scripts with me and we are in touch. So let’s see where this goes. Sometimes, it happens that you start writing a particular script and it doesn’t go anywhere and then you start another one and it becomes something. So yes, I love Ranbir,” he said. 

Ranbir would currently be on cloud nine as the Vanga Reddy directorial-Animal has amassed Rs 885 crore worldwide.
