BSWML to install 60 new kasa kiosks across Bengaluru for 24/7 waste drop-off, aiming to reduce black spots and improve waste tracking

In a bid to enhance waste management and curb illegal dumping, the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has announced plans to install 60 new ‘kasa kiosks’ across the city. This expansion follows the successful pilot at Adugodi, where residents embraced the convenience of depositing waste at any time, eliminating reliance on morning auto-tipper collections.

The kiosks are designed to offer round-the-clock access for waste disposal, aiming to reduce black spots and improve overall cleanliness. Senior BSWML officials confirmed that the new units will be strategically placed near existing dumping hotspots to maximize impact.

To complement the initiative, a ward-level dashboard is being developed to monitor waste generation patterns. Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao stated that the dashboard will track wet waste, segregated waste, and other categories, helping authorities and citizens better understand local waste dynamics.

Rao acknowledged that current infrastructure for waste collection and segregation requires strengthening. He assured that steps are being taken to improve these systems, with the kiosks and dashboard forming part of a broader strategy to modernize Bengaluru’s waste management.

The move reflects a growing emphasis on decentralized, citizen-friendly solutions to urban sanitation challenges. By empowering residents with flexible disposal options and data-driven oversight, BSWML hopes to foster cleaner neighbourhoods and more responsible waste practices citywide.
