Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar wrapped up his city-wide outreach initiative, ‘Bengaluru Nadige’ (Walk with Bengaluru), with a concluding session at Cubbon Park on Sunday morning
The campaign, which aimed to foster direct engagement between citizens and the administration, saw Shivakumar walking alongside residents, listening to their concerns, and discussing civic issues.
The Cubbon Park event, held from 7 am to 10 am, marked the final leg of the series, which had previously covered multiple neighborhoods across Bengaluru. Over the past week, the Deputy Chief Minister visited parks in areas such as Koramangala and KR Puram, where he interacted with locals and gathered feedback on urban challenges ranging from infrastructure gaps to public amenities.

Congress MLA NA Haris, who accompanied Shivakumar during the walk, emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing urban issues and improving the quality of life in Bengaluru. He noted that while the city faces persistent problems like potholes and traffic congestion, the government remains focused on responsive governance and citizen-centric development.

The ‘Bengaluru Nadige’ initiative has been positioned as a grassroots effort to bridge the gap between policymakers and residents. By walking through public spaces and engaging in open dialogue, Shivakumar sought to demonstrate a hands-on approach to leadership and urban planning.
In parallel with the campaign, political tensions have escalated between Shivakumar and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. On Saturday, Shivakumar challenged Kumaraswamy to substantiate recent allegations with evidence, urging transparency and accountability in political discourse. He also responded to claims about future electoral prospects, pointing to the current standing of Kumaraswamy’s party and expressing confidence in his own party’s trajectory.
The final walk at Cubbon Park concluded the series on a note of civic solidarity, with residents participating in discussions about the city’s future. Shivakumar reiterated his intention to continue engaging with citizens beyond the campaign, signaling that the initiative may evolve into broader platforms for public consultation and collaborative governance.
