Tragedy in Bhatkal: Toddler falls into drain, loses life

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Bhatkal town of Uttara Kannada district, where a two-year-old girl tragically drowned after falling into a drainage canal. The incident occurred in the Azad Nagar area on the afternoon of June 14.

According to reports, the toddler was playing near the front yard of her house while her parents, Tauseef and Arju, were inside. In a matter of seconds, the child accidentally slipped into the rapidly flowing open drain nearby. The shocking visuals of the incident were captured on CCTV footage, showing the child being swept away by the water.

Despite efforts by the family to rescue her and rushing her to a nearby hospital, the child could not be saved. The suddenness of the tragedy has left the local community in deep sorrow and shock. The police from Bhatkal Town Station have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
