A 5-year-old boy tragically died of suspected food poisoning, while his parents remain in critical condition after consuming a meal in their home. The incident occurred in Bhubaneswari Nagar, where the family lives. The boy, identified as Dheeraj, had fallen ill after eating food, including a birthday cake brought home by his father, Balaraj, a Swiggy delivery executive.

According to reports, Balaraj had brought the cake home after a customer canceled an order. The family, including Dheeraj's mother Nagalakshmi, had dinner on Sunday night. Early the next morning, all three family members began experiencing severe stomach pain. Neighbours rushed them to a private hospital, where Dheeraj was pronounced dead on arrival. His parents were found unconscious and are currently receiving treatment in the ICU at KIMS Hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest the food consumed was stale, with the cake being a possible source of contamination. Forensic tests are being conducted to determine the exact cause.

The KP Agrahara Police have registered a case and are awaiting the recovery of Dheeraj’s parents to take further statements. Swiggy has expressed condolences and vowed full cooperation with authorities in the investigation, saying, "Our hearts go out to the family during this difficult time."

The tragic event has raised concerns about food safety standards for canceled orders.
