Passengers travelling on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru railway route, take note: South Western Railway has announced the temporary cancellation of several trains due to essential electrification and safety upgrade works on the Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya section. The suspension will begin on June 1, 2024, and continue until November 1, 2024, affecting both daily and weekly services.

The planned works are part of a long-term project to enhance efficiency and safety along the key stretch, which connects coastal and inland Karnataka. The temporary train suspensions are necessary to carry out electrification and track safety enhancements without disruption.

Here’s a list of temporarily cancelled trains:
- Train No. 16539 (Yeshwantpur to Mangaluru Junction Weekly Express), operating every Saturday, will be cancelled from May 31 to November 1.
- Train No. 16540 (Mangaluru Junction to Yeshwantpur Weekly Express), running every Sunday, is also cancelled from June 1 to November 2.
- Train No. 16575 (Yeshwantpur to Mangaluru Junction Tri-weekly Express), which operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, will not run from June 1 to October 30.
- Train No. 16576 (Mangaluru to Yeshwantpur Tri-weekly Express), running on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, stands cancelled from June 2 to October 31.
- Train No. 16515 (Yeshwantpur to Karwar Tri-weekly Express), running on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will be cancelled from June 2 to October 31.
- Train No. 16516 (Karwar to Yeshwantpur Tri-weekly Express), operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, will be suspended from June 3 to November 1.
Passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and explore alternative routes or dates during the suspension period.
