The Transport Department is stepping up efforts to ensure traffic discipline on highways by introducing advanced AI-enabled cameras. Drivers, beware—violating traffic rules could lead to fines issued via SMS or mail soon.

In a major initiative, the department plans to install AI cameras on state and national highways to monitor and penalize violations such as speeding, lane discipline breaches, and other infractions. The rollout will begin with highways in districts surrounding Bengaluru, including Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Tumkur, and Ramanagara.

Key highways set to get AI surveillance include:

  • Bengaluru Rural: Devanahalli-Chikkaballapur Road, Nelamangala, Dobspet, Hoskote, Hoskote-Gauribidanur Road, H Cross, and Doddaballapur.
  • Mysuru: Mysuru-Ooty Road, Kadakola, T Narasipura, Mysuru-HD Kote Road, and Mysuru-Hunsur Road.
  • Kolar: Kolar City, Kolar-Bangarpet Road, and Kolar-Srinivaspur Road.
  • Tumkur: Kunigal Road, Sira, Kunigal-Tumkur Road, and areas near Sandkere.
  • Ramanagara: Ramanagara-Channapatna Road and Ramanagara-Kanakpura Road.

The initiative aims to curb traffic violations, enhance safety, and reduce accidents on these critical routes. Authorities urge motorists to follow traffic rules diligently to avoid penalties and ensure smoother, safer journeys.
