Tripti Dimri’s debut film, Laila Majnu, is set to make a theatrical comeback on August 9, 2024, six years after its initial release. Directed by Sajid Ali and penned by Imtiaz Ali, the film first hit theaters in 2018 but did not achieve box office success. However, its subsequent OTT release garnered a devoted following, elevating it to cult status among audiences.

Imtiaz Ali, who co-wrote the film, expressed his enthusiasm about the re-release, saying, “Laila Majnu back on popular demand!!! Gratitude to your love that pulled it into theatres again after six years!! Re-releasing August 9, ‘24 in cinemas nationwide.” He also shared a list of theaters where the film will be shown, further fueling anticipation.

The re-release announcement has sparked emotional reactions from fans and industry insiders alike. Television producer Ekta Kapoor described the event as “Epic,” while fans expressed their joy and gratitude online. One fan requested, “Interval mat rakhna pls, rote hue koi dekh lega lights on hongi to,” highlighting the film’s emotional impact.

In a recent interview with IANS, Tripti Dimri revealed that she did not audition for her role but was discovered by the film’s casting team due to her distinctive Kashmiri look. This opportunity marked the start of her acting career. Laila Majnu, also starring Avinash Tiwary, was initially released on September 7, 2018, and is now set to reconnect with audiences in theaters across the country.
