Taiwan has been hit by a major earthquake that measured 7.4 on the Richter scale at 8:00 AM on April 2nd. Taiwan being an island might also be faced with a prospective Tsunami as a result of this earthquake. Warnings in this regard have been issued. Parts of southern Japan have also been identified as being potentially risks for Tsunami. The earthquake had its epicentre 18 kilometres to the south of Hualien City in Taiwan. The depth has been measured to be 34.8 kilometres. The Tsunami waves are predicted to be 10 metres long.

This has prompted evacuation procedures across the region. Messages for evacuation are being conveyed through local media channels. Vessels stationed along the ports of the Okinawa region are headed towards the sea as a result of this warning. 

The damage caused by the earthquake remains to be ascertained. Visuals of building shaking due to the earthquake have come to the forefront.
