In a shocking incident from Bengaluru, popular Kannada television actress and anchor Shruthi, also known as Manjula, was brutally attacked by her husband, Amaresh, in Muneshwara Layout under Hanumanthanagar Police limits. The attack took place on July 5, just a day after the couple had reconciled following months of separation.

Shruthi, who has acted in serials like Amruthadhare, had been married to Amaresh for nearly 20 years. The couple has two children and was living in a leased house in Hanumanthanagar. However, their marriage had reportedly been under strain due to ongoing issues related to Shruthi’s professional commitments and financial disagreements, especially concerning the lease amount of their residence.
Earlier in April, Shruthi had moved out of the marital home and started living with her brother due to compatibility issues and increasing tension with Amaresh. She had even filed a complaint against him at the Hanumanthanagar police station. Despite this, the couple had recently tried to mend their relationship and reunited just a day before the incident.
According to police reports, on July 5, after their children left for college, Amaresh allegedly sprayed pepper spray into Shruthi’s eyes and violently attacked her with a knife. He stabbed her multiple times on her rib area, thigh, and neck. Shruthi also accused him of banging her head against a wall and pulling her hair in a brutal, film-like assault.
Fortunately, Shruthi survived the attempt on her life and is currently undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital. Police have arrested Amaresh and filed a case of attempted murder. In her official complaint, Shruthi has stated that the attack stemmed from domestic and financial issues, and that Amaresh was driven by suspicion and anger.
