A dramatic twist has emerged in the shooting incident involving Ricky Rai, son of the late underworld figure Muthappa Rai. Ricky, who arrived in Bengaluru from Russia just two days prior, was shot at near his father’s Bidadi farmhouse around 12:50 am and is now undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital for injuries to his nose and right arm.

The Bidadi police have registered an FIR based on a complaint by Ricky’s longtime driver, Basavaraj. The complaint has led to an FIR being filed against Muthappa Rai's second wife Anuradha, Rakesh Malli, Nitesh Shetty, and Vaidyanath.

According to the driver, Ricky had confided in him about repeated life threats. On the day of the incident, Ricky left his Sadashivanagar residence in Bengaluru at 6 pm and reached Bidadi around 7:30 pm. After resting, he planned to return to the city at 11 pm with Basavaraj and his bodyguard, Raj Pal, in a black Fortuner (KA 53 MC 7128).

They reportedly heard a loud noise soon after leaving, but a quick check revealed nothing unusual. Later, Ricky returned briefly to retrieve a forgotten purse and resumed the journey at 12:50 am — only to be ambushed at the same location where the sound was previously heard.

A keypad phone without a SIM was recovered at the crime scene, deepening the mystery around the motive and those involved.
