In a tragic turn of events, two tourists from Karnataka lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The victims have been identified as Manjunath from Shivamogga and Bharat Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru originally from Ranebennur in Haveri district.

Manjunath, who had travelled to Kashmir with his family for a vacation, was gunned down by terrorists while he was enjoying the scenic beauty of Pahalgam. In the same incident, Bharat Bhushan, a relative of former Karnataka Assembly Speaker K.B. Koliwada, also lost his life. Bhushan had only arrived in Jammu and Kashmir three days prior to the attack.

The shocking incident has sparked outrage and sorrow across Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah strongly condemned the brutal attack and expressed deep grief over the loss of innocent lives. He has directed Chief Secretaries and senior police officials to coordinate with Jammu and Kashmir authorities and ensure all necessary assistance is provided to the bereaved families.

On the CM's instructions, a special team of officers has been dispatched to Kashmir to oversee the situation and facilitate the return of the bodies. The state government has assured full support to the families of the victims during this difficult time.
