U S brokers ceasefire between Israel and Syria: Another war halted

U S President Donald Trump has announced a ceasefire between Israel and Syria, claiming to have brokered peace after intense cross-border violence that recently killed over 300 people in Syria due to Israeli airstrikes.

Trump stated that he personally intervened through diplomatic backchannels, holding separate discussions with leaders from both nations. This intervention, he claimed, helped facilitate a temporary truce, which both Israel and Syria have now reportedly agreed to uphold.

The ceasefire comes after a wave of Israeli airstrikes on key targets inside Syria, some of which included civilian zones. Hospitals, emergency service hubs, and residential areas were among those struck, with numerous casualties including children and the elderly.

While Israel defended its actions as necessary for national security, the international community expressed strong concern over the humanitarian toll. The newly agreed ceasefire is seen as a step towards de-escalation, though the situation remains fragile and in need of sustained diplomatic efforts.
