Bengaluru experienced an unexpected spell of early morning rain on Sunday, surprising residents across the city. Key neighborhoods such as MG Road, Jayanagar, Hebbal, Sultanpalya, RT Nagar, and RR Nagar recorded light showers, adding a refreshing twist to the city’s weather. The rain is part of a broader weather phenomenon linked to a developing cyclone near Sri Lanka's eastern coast and the southwest Bay of Bengal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD also reported that the unseasonal showers extend beyond Bengaluru, impacting south interior Karnataka and Malnad regions. Meanwhile, northern interior districts are expected to remain dry but may experience moderate to heavy fog in the coming days.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) issued a rain alert through its official social media platform, forecasting "scattered moderate rain" across southern interior, coastal, and hilly districts. Cooler temperatures have been observed, with Bengaluru’s Sunday range recorded between 27°C and 17°C. A slight dip to 26°C and 16°C is predicted for Monday.

Residents in Bidar, Kalaburagi, and Raichur districts have been cautioned about a severe cold wave, with a sharp temperature drop anticipated.

The Meteorological Centre in Bengaluru forecasts continued light rain for the city over the next 48 hours, ushering in a cooler and wetter start to the week for Karnataka.
