Modi’s speech to a large NRI conglomerate in Paris has covered some very pertinent issues. An agreement has materialised for the acceptance of UPI payments in France. Apart from this, a new consulate is being put in place in the city of Marseille. The work visa for Indian students pursuing Master's in France has been extended to 5 years from the present capping of 2 years. The UPI payment scheme will be initiated from the historic Eiffel Tower.

Modi also reminisced about his association with a cultural center of France set up in Ahmedabad 40 years ago. He talked about the admiration football star Mbappe enjoys in India. He emphasised the importance of maintaining international ties. 

Ever expanding scope of UPI

The advancements made by the National Payments Corporation of India (NCPI) in promoting UPI payments across the globe is surely helping uphold Modi’s vision. They signed an agreement with Singapore’s PayNow enabling cross border transactions between the 2 countries. UAE, Nepal and Bhutan have already begun accepting UPI payments. Their plans of expansion extend to US and other European countries as well presently. 

Modi would be the guest of honour in the celebration of the French National day.
