In a rare and surprising act of devotion, a retired army officer has donated property documents worth ₹4 crore to a temple hundi in Tamil Nadu. The incident took place at the Arulmigu Renugambal Amman Temple in Tiruvannamalai district, where temple staff discovered original property documents during the hundi counting on June 24.

The donor, identified as Vijayan from Keshavapuram village in Arani town, decided to gift all his assets to the temple. The documents include two major properties — one valued at ₹3 crore and the other at ₹1 crore. According to reports, all papers are original, and Vijayan made the decision out of deep devotion and personal distress.

A long-time devotee of Renugambal Amman, Vijayan has lived apart from his wife for the past 10 years and has faced continuous harassment from his two daughters, who allegedly demanded his property and neglected his care. Unable to bear the mental stress and emotional pain, he chose to donate his wealth to the temple instead of handing it over to his children.

Temple authorities contacted Vijayan after discovering the documents. He confirmed his intentions to legally transfer the properties to the temple, stating that those who fail to care for him do not deserve his assets. The process to formalize the donation is now reportedly underway.
