The future remains uncertain for children of legal immigrants in the United States, many of whom are Indian-Americans who arrived in the country as young children with their parents. Now, as they approach the age of 21, they face the risk of deportation to countries where they have no connections.

An estimated 250,000 children of legal immigrants are affected, with a significant number being of Indian origin. The legislative impasse continues to cause distress among these families, with the White House pointing fingers at the Republicans for the stalemate.

During a press briefing on Thursday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed frustration over the situation. "I talked about the bipartisan agreement that came together from the Senate where we negotiated a process to help the so-called documented Dreamers. And sadly, Republicans, and I've said this many times already at this podium today, which is that they voted it down twice. They voted it down twice," she told reporters.

The term "documented Dreamers" refers to children of legal immigrants who grow up in the United States but face deportation upon turning 21 due to their dependent visa status expiring. Efforts to address this issue have repeatedly stalled in Congress, leaving these young adults in limbo.

As the debate continues, the affected families remain anxious, hoping for a resolution that will allow them to stay in the only country they consider home.
