Veteran Malayalam film actor Mohanlal has been admitted to the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi following recent health issues. The 64-year-old actor is experiencing high-grade fever, breathing difficulties, and muscle pain, prompting his hospitalization.

According to a medical statement released by the hospital on August 16, Mohanlal is suspected to have a viral respiratory infection. Dr. Gireesh Kumar KP, Professor of Medicine at Amrita, confirmed that Mohanlal has been prescribed a five-day course of medication and advised to rest while avoiding public interactions and crowded places.

Mohanlal’s health concerns come at a crucial time as his eagerly awaited directorial debut, “Barroz,” is scheduled for release on October 3. The 3D fantasy drama, which has faced multiple delays since its initial announcement in 2019, was previously slated for a March 28 release. The actor recently updated fans on the new release date, promising a magical adventure.

Earlier this month, Mohanlal demonstrated his commitment to social causes by visiting landslide-affected regions in Wayanad’s Chooralmala and Mundakkai villages. He announced a substantial ₹3 crore donation through his ViswaSanthi Foundation to aid in the rehabilitation efforts. Established in 2015 to honor his late parents, Viswanathan and Santhakumari, the foundation continues to support various charitable initiatives.
