Bengaluru’s iconic Vidhana Soudha now boasts a permanent electric lighting system, officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on April 6. The project, costing several crores, aims to highlight the architectural beauty of the state legislature building and enhance its appeal to both residents and tourists.

The launch was attended by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Assembly Speaker UT Khader and other dignitaries. The newly installed lights will be switched on during evenings every weekend, as well as on important state and national occasions, becoming a regular feature in the city’s skyline.
For the first time, Vidhana Soudha will be illuminated permanently rather than temporarily for festivals or national celebrations. In a step towards inclusivity, Speaker UT Khader has proposed that the public be allowed to visit and view the lit-up structure on Sundays from 4PM to 7PM.
This initiative is expected to boost civic pride and establish Vidhana Soudha as a striking visual landmark in the heart of Bengaluru.
