“Merry Christmas” has locked the date of January 12th for its release

Makers claim back-to-back releases as cause for delay

The film has been shot in both Tami and Hindi

The Sriram Raghavan directorial “Merry Christmas” has finally locked the date of January 12th for its release. This comes after a series of changes with the film initially slated to be released on December 15th, then moved to December 8th. 

With major releases lined up during the entire month of December, the makers have decided to play it safe by moving it to January. The Pongal release would also be an added advantage considering that the male lead of the film, Vijay Sethupathi has a considerably large fan following in the Tamil film industry wherein a Pongal release invariably creates a buzz. “We have made this film with a lot of love & passion like every filmmaker does. However with the back to back movie releases and packed last two months of 2023, we have taken the decision to extend the season of joy and bring our film to the theatres on 12th January 2024,” a statement from the filmmakers read.

Two production houses, namely Tip Films and Matchbox Pictures. The film has been shot in both Tami and Hindi. Katrina Kaif would play the female lead in the film. Sriram Raghavan has roped in Pritam to provide the music for the film.
