In a landmark moment for Indian entertainment, comedian and actor Vir Das has been announced as the host of the 2024 International Emmy Awards. This prestigious event will take place on November 25 in New York City. Das, known for his sharp wit and stand-up performances, is the first Indian to host the Emmys.
The comedian took to Instagram to share the exciting news, posting a picture of himself alongside a screenshot of the announcement. Expressing his gratitude, Vir wrote, "Thanks to your support, an Indian Emmy Host. I can’t wait to host the @iemmys this year! Tremendously honoured and excited!"

The announcement sparked a wave of congratulations from Bollywood. Actor Hrithik Roshan commented, "Wow. That’s amazing. Very well done." Dia Mirza, Kriti Sanon, and Shweta Tripathi also praised Das in the comments, calling his achievement “absolutely amazing.”
Vir, who previously earned an International Emmy nomination in 2021 for his special Vir Das: For India and won in 2023 for his Netflix special Landing, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event. "It's a prestigious night that celebrates creators from across the globe. I’m thrilled to be a part of it," he shared in a statement.
