Indian Cricket legend Virat Kohli has officially announced his retirement from Test Cricket, concluding a remarkable 14-year journey in the longest format of the game. At 36, Kohli shared the news via a heartfelt Instagram post, expressing gratitude for the experiences and lessons the format has provided. He stated, “It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life.”

Kohli made his Test debut against the West Indies in June 2011. Over his illustrious career, he played 123 Test matches, amassing 9230 runs at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries. As captain, he led India in 68 Tests, securing 40 victories, making him one of India's most successful Test captains.
His retirement comes shortly after Rohit Sharma's exit from Test cricket, signaling a significant transition in Indian cricket's leadership. Kohli's departure leaves a void in the team's experience and leadership as India prepares for the upcoming England tour.
