Bengaluru’s civic authority, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has issued a notice to cricketer Virat Kohli’s pub, One8 Commune, located near Chinnaswamy Stadium, over alleged fire safety violations. The notice comes in response to a complaint filed by social activist Venkatesh, claiming the establishment lacks mandatory fire safety clearances, including a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department.

The BBMP alleges that the pub has not addressed earlier notices or taken corrective measures. It has now given the management a seven-day deadline to provide an explanation and ensure compliance, failing which legal action will follow.
This is not the first instance of regulatory scrutiny for One8 Commune. In June, the Bengaluru Police registered an FIR against the pub and other establishments on MG Road for operating beyond permitted hours. According to the FIR, the pub remained open until 1:30 am, surpassing the 1 am closing time, and played loud music, drawing complaints from local residents.
Inaugurated in December last year, the Bengaluru branch of One8 Commune is part of a chain with outlets in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata. The latest developments have sparked concerns about safety and compliance in the city’s nightlife hubs.
