Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has disclosed that he and MS Dhoni, his former teammate and captain, no longer maintain a personal relationship. Speaking to News18, Harbhajan revealed that while they were pivotal in India’s T20 World Cup (2007) and ODI World Cup (2011) victories, their camaraderie didn’t extend beyond the cricket field.

Harbhajan played under Dhoni’s leadership during these historic tournaments, contributing significantly with 7 and 9 wickets, respectively. Despite their professional success, Harbhajan shared that they didn’t communicate outside the field, even during their time together at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from 2018 to 2020.
“When we played at CSK, we spoke, but it was limited to on-ground matters. Off the field, there was no interaction. It’s been over 10 years now. I don’t know why, but I haven’t reached out either,” said Harbhajan. He added that he values relationships where communication is mutual, explaining, “I call people who pick up. A relationship should have give and take.”
Harbhajan clarified that he holds no grudges against Dhoni but doesn’t actively pursue contact. “If he had an issue, he would’ve told me by now,” he remarked.
The spinner’s candid remarks shed light on an unexpected rift between two stalwarts of Indian cricket.
