Modi Ji took GIFT City to Gujarat: Uddhav
Where will Dharavi residents go?: Uddhav
We will not give additional sops: Uddhav
With the Vidhana Sabha elections in Maharashtra scheduled to be held later this year, the Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc has continued its pitch from the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections, wherein they claimed that there are efforts to relocate business establishments from Maharashtra to the neighbouring state of Gujarat. Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray called a press conference in which he lashed out at the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “During Manmohan Ji’s government, GIFT City was coming here, and we welcomed it. Modi Ji took GIFT City to Gujarat. Now giving GIFT City to Gujarat and Adani City to Maharashtra, we will not let this happen. The identity that Mumbai has will remain in Mumbai, we will not let it change into Adani City,” Uddhav said.

Uddhav claimed that if elected to power, the INDIA bloc would be willing to withdraw the tender given to the business tycoon Adani for the Dharavi redevelopment project. “There is no mention of how Dharavi will be developed. Where will Dharavi residents go? If you look at the tender, it seems like a trap. We demand that no one from Dharavi should ever be displaced. If Adani can’t do it, they should surrender and a re-tender be issued. In Dharavi, we launched a campaign that redevelopment should give people their rightful homes. Is it Dharavi redevelopment or ‘Ladka Mitra Yojna’ (favourite friend scheme). We will not give additional sops,” Uddhav added. The INDIA bloc prevailed over the NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. The Vidhana Sabha election is however expected to be a more tight contest.
