West Bengal: Student killed by classmates after being offered Rasgulla as last wish

The incident occurred in the Nadia district. 3 students kidnapped their classmate when he was off on his bicycle to meet his friends. They apparently were in need of a gaming laptop and resorted to this for acquiring it. They had placed a demand of Rs 3 lakh as ransom to his family members. 

The boy’s father had passed away a few years back. He was living with his mother in his maternal uncle’s house in Krishnanagar. The family was unable to meet the demand made by the boys. They had already filed a missing complaint with the police when he did not return home on August 25th after having left on his bicycle. 

Upon their demand not having been met, the kidnappers decided to kill the boy. They asked him for his last wish and gave him Rasgulla and soft drinks in accordance to that before strangling him. They were afraid that the boy would otherwise approach the police. They then disposed of his body in a pond in the Hujuli district. 

The police have apprehended the trio and they have confessed to their crime. They have booked under relevant sections of the Juvenile Act. The boy’s body has been sent for post-mortem.
