In a new twist to the ongoing tensions between Elon Musk and former US President Donald Trump, Musk has claimed Trump’s name appears in the controversial “Epstein files” and that this is the reason they have not been fully released to the public.

“Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
The Epstein files refer to a trove of documents collected by U.S. federal authorities following the death of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender with ties to high-profile figures. The files reportedly include flight logs, contact books, court records, and potential client lists.
Although Trump has repeatedly promised to declassify the Epstein files if re-elected, little has been revealed so far. In January 2024, a court unsealed documents related to a lawsuit by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre. These mainly featured interview transcripts and previously known police reports.
In February, Attorney General Pam Bondi hinted at a broader release. Soon after, conservative pundits were photographed at the White House carrying folders labeled “The Epstein Files.” That month, the Justice Department released over 100 pages from Epstein’s contact list and flight logs aboard his infamous jet, the “Lolita Express.” However, many portions, including details about victims, remained redacted.
