Karnataka: What does data say about water in KRS and Kabini Dam?

A major talking point of the protests regarding Cauvery has been that the shortage of rain has caused a shortage in the reservoirs. Data pertaining to this corroborates this talking point.

 The Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) dam has a maximum depth of 124.80 feet. Of this, only 96.80 feet has been filled with water as of today. The maximum storage capacity of the KRS dam is 49.452 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic feet). Presently, the water amounting to 20.405 TMC has been filled. The dam has witnessed an inflow of 7134 cusecs of water. The outflow amounts to 6201 cusecs of water. Of this, 3837 causes of water have been released to Tamil Nadu. 

The Kabini Dam, another source of water to flow into Tamil Nadu, has also been experiencing a shortage. 

The Kabini dam has a maximum depth of 84 feet. Of this only 73.82 feet have been filled with water as of today. The maximum storage capacity of the Kabini dam is 19.52 TMC (Thousand Million Cubic feet). Presently, the water amounting to 13.64 TMC has been filled. The dam has witnessed an inflow of 2384 cusecs of water. The outflow amounts to 4890 cusecs of water. Of this, 2500 cusecs of water have been released to Tamil Nadu.
