What is Emraan Hashmi’s character like in ‘Showtime’?

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi is gearing up for the release of the web series “Showtime”. Showtime will premiere on Disney Hotstar on March 8th. The show is about Bollywood, egos that stars have, how the industry is as a workplace for women and the process behind the making of a film. When asked about the type of character Emraan Hashmi plays in the film, he said, “I am playing a fictional character here (Showtime), who calls a spade a spade. Talking about that show (Koffee With Karan) that you spoke about right now, well I had to bear the brunt for it for quite some time for really calling a spade a spade. You know what, when that rapid fire round happened, Karan had cut the shot, and he just looked around on the set and everyone was dumbfounded. He asked 'Can you actually keep this (Emraan's answer)?' And a couple of people behind the camera said 'Yes',” in a recent interview.

It is worth recollecting that Emraan Hashmi played a very similar role in “The Dirty Picture” starring Vidya Balan wherein he essayed the role of a director named Abraham who had issues with item songs being fitted into films to increase the film’s hype and was also very open about his disapproval of such measures.
